Painting Contest Results!

HDM
A long, long time ago the HDM painting contest was posted to reddit. The rules were simple. Paint a civilian-type mini with no apparent weapons. The due date has passed, and we have a winner! I have to say that I am shocked at the number of people who actually participated. There were a few who didn't finish, but with 18 completed entries I'm blown away. I want to thank u/Probably_Not_Evil who is a moderator over at r/minipainting for stickying my post. I'm sure that had a great deal to do with the number of entrants.
Here are the finished entries with some of their lore and information underneath. They are listed in no particular order with the winner at the bottom.
Thank you to everyone who took part. You guys made this a legit contest!
FrostRogue117 - Kitsune
The Kitsune is the story-teller of the Rising Sun world. Traveling from region to region, it witnesses the battles won and lost between clans. it then travels along the roads, from village to village, proclaiming the victor of the great battles and recounting the events that took place. This grants great honor from the common people to the victor. A fox in nomad's clothing the people describe it, never settling. It merely continues onward to the next great battle, and the next great victor.
Chris G. - Grave Digger
Jezkiah Gunch, gravedigger, serving the wizard camps surrounding Felstad. Need a useless Henchman "disappeared" (or exhumed)? Gunch is your man. Payment taken in rare finds from the frozen ruins.
Brighton B. - Ghoul
Ghoul the Mischievous prankster: mischievous pranksters who are the unseen highlights of the autumn solstice festival throughout the continent of Alkevenia. It's similar to Halloween. The three hang out around cemeteries, pranking passerby during the night. What few people actually know is that they're the gods of trickery, and they simply can't pass up the chance to meddle in some interesting adventures.
CyberGrue - Milkmaid (Reaper)
I plan on using her as a generic townsfolk in my D&D / Pathfinder games.
Sean S. - Benoit Chagnon
Laborer from Monfel (Bretonnia) in my Mighty Empires campaign. The heart tattoo on his chest says Maman "mother". It doesn't really because I can't paint that small, but you get the idea.
Robert W. - Scientists
On an isolated island in the pacific, a startling discovery has been made. A small population of dinosaurs, still alive in the present day! This team of scientists has set out to capture live specimens of the infant raptors on the island. The researchers' work may be the key to preserving this isolated species, but the mama raptor isn't too happy about these strange creatures messing with her babies.
He roams dark ages England singing tunes for his next meal!
Meet Collette (the girl)... Her Dad (Nicolas) is the Captain of the local French Militia. They own a nice ship, expensive house and the best of everything. She has a good life and gets nearly anything she wants just by asking. Meet Marc (the boy)... Marc is an orphan under the care of Nicolas. He works as Nicolas's servant and does whatever is required of him. He mostly scrubs floors and decks, but does other menial tasks as required. When he is not busy with work, he plays childish games with Collette - who has become his best friend.
This is 'Steamin' Murdoch, head coach of the Vanir Volcanoes, my Chaos Pact Blood Bowl team.
Sam S. - Mary Armstrong
Name: Mary Armstrong Occupation: Household Maid Game: Blood and Plunder Location: New Providence, British Bahamas
Huy N. - Narisa
Name: Narisa Occupation: Apprentice Alchemist and Actor/Dancer/Performer Game: Dnd Part of the World: She is a part of a circus troupe that travels around the world. Learning alchemy from her father and acting from her mother. She uses her knowledge of alchemy to spice up her performances (small explosions and such). She is a huge hit among younger children. She enjoys travelling with the troupe because every once in a while she gets to see the ocean.
IslandTra5h - Agatha Hurin
Name: Agatha Hurin Occupation: Gardener at the Church of Light Game its meant for: Any tabletop role playing game really, Pathfinder, DnD 5ed etc and she would be found tending the crops in the back garden of the local Church of Light. If not in the garden then she would be taking fresh produce to town in her bag to make some coin for the church. Agatha is closed lipped about her past life and she has faithfully served the church for the last decade.
Davidpglass - Jeff Smith
This is Jeff Smith, blacksmith in the town of Pareth. Just about the only local to actually welcome my players upon their arrival. Currently fabricating a dagger for the warlock’s crab familiar. For D&D 5e
DragonVT - Brandy, Mechanic
From Miniature Factory. Not intended for any game, from my collection.
Sk8Brdr540 - HVT
This is my HVT for infinity. The model itself is a Neoterran Corporate Executive. He can be found enjoying the luxuries of the Neon Lotus. He is most commonly encountered at the Aristeia Outfitter. Although a man of his standing seems an unlikely candidate for armor, his credits spend just the same. He has a particular affinity for limited 8-Ball colorways (even matching his armor to boots!). If encountered, he makes a hasty exit along with his secure package. If captured alive, he will first attempt to bribe the unit to provide him with safe passage. As a last resort, he will sell the contents of his briefcase....but the reliability of his source is unconfirmed.
EverCatSaavy - Eliza & Jacob
Their names are pretty typical small town human farmer children names: Eliza and Jacob. While neither of them have an occupation yet, as they are children, Eliza loves to pick apples in the nearby orchard when she is not helping her father in the farm, and Jacob is always trailing just a few steps behind his father and hopes to learn enough to one day take over the farm so the old man can retire. Eliza would prefer to be an adventurer when she grows up.
Live Real Now – Mini Tinker
Mike Z.
(HDM pick for best story)
And the winner is...
Ralph P - Rat Catcher
Solomon Bartholomew, the Rat Catcher. He will be for Cthulhu by Gaslight, which is set in 19th century London.
It was a fairly tight competition for first place. I'm interested to know if most readers will agree with my ultimate decision. I really enjoyed reading everyone's fluff and checking out all of your blogs!
